Animal of the Month

September: Guernsey Cow — Memory

September: Guernsey Cow — Memory

Hello! I’m Memory, a Guernsey cow. Did you know that not all milk is white? In fact, my milk has a golden shade because of its high fat content. In the 1950s people associated the colour white with cleanliness and did not like my milk’s yellow hue. Even though I am very adaptable and do well under most types of farming, my numbers have declined dramatically in recent years and Guernseys have been declared endangered by Rare Breeds Canada.
