Animal of the Month

May: Angora Goat

May: Angora Goat

Hello! I’m an Angora goat. Don’t confuse me with the Angora rabbit, which produces angora fur. I produce mohair, which is very similar to wool. Clothes made with mohair are generally warmer and tougher than clothes made with sheep’s wool, and they won’t shrink or wrinkle. Come and watch as I get shorn during the Museum’s Sheep Shearing Festival on the Victoria Day long weekend in May.
