Hi! I’m the queen bee. I alone am the mother of all the bees that live in the Museum’s observation bee hive. Unlike my daughters, the worker bees, I do not leave the hive to forage and I don’t make honey. My one and only job is to lay eggs. It’s easy to tell me apart form the other bees: I’m much bigger, and the beekeeper painted a coloured dot on my thorax. If you watch me long enough, you may see me inspect a cell and lay an egg in it, something I do hundreds of times every day.
