New Spring Season at the Canada Agriculture Museum

Celebration of Spring
at the Canada Agriculture Museum

OTTAWA, March 24, 2006
For immediate release

The Canada Agriculture Museum comes alive in April after a long cold winter. Visitors will learn how important agriculture is to their everyday lives. Highlights in April at the Canada Agriculture Museum include Easter, April 14 to 17 and a variety of Daily Demonstrations such as learning all about milk, wool carding, helping to feed the sheep and watching a milking machine in action. Also, museum-goers can visit the exhibitions “The Farm: Plugged-In” and “Tractors”.

Easter April 14 to 17
The farm glows with the joyful birth of newborn animals. Visitors will have the chance to welcome gentle new lambs, caress the silky fur of rabbits and see newly-hatched fluffy chicks. Children six years and under can join in chocolate Easter egg hunts and older kids can be challenged to find the “Signs of Spring”. All throughout the Easter weekend!

Exhibitions
New! The Farm: Plugged-In
Visitors will discover the impact electricity had on farmers' routine household chores, from the turn of the last century to today, in this exhibition tracing the period of rural electrification in Canada. Also visitors can even see Beck’s Circus, a travelling exhibit from the early 1900s that showed the wonders that electricity brought to farms.

Tractors
In the exhibition Tractors, visitors can follow the 100-year-old story of the tractor from unfamiliar oddity to commonplace tool on the Canadian farm.
