Father's Day at the Canada Agriculture Museum

Dads and granddads will enjoy the Museum's Tractors exhibition that follows the 100-year-old story of the farm tractor from unfamiliar oddity to commonplace tool on the Canadian farm. Kids will be able to make a craft for Dad and colour Father's Day theme pictures. Also, visitors will learn all about "farm fathers". To celebrate Father's Day at the Canada Agriculture Museum, children and adults of all ages can participate in a panoply of demonstrations from ice cream making and bread making to goat milking. On this special day, all fathers enter free.

Daily Interpretation and Demonstrations
The following are the activities and demonstrations that will be featured at the Museum during Father's Day:

10:00 Meet the Pigs and the Boar - Small Animal Barn
10:30 Meet the Father of the Lambs: The Ram - Small Animal Barn
11:00 Goat Milking Demonstration - Sheep Field
11:30 Folktale "How the Rooster got his Crown" - Classroom
12:30 Meet Goody the Bull - Horse and Cattle Barn
1:15Cow Washing or Care - Dairy Barn
1:45Ice Cream Making and Tasting - Memory Park
2:30 The Buzz About Honey Bees - Demonstration Kitchen (Exhibitions)
3:15Help Feed the Sheep - Small Animal Barn
3:45Afternoon Milking - Dairy Barn

Bread Making and Tasting (10:00, 12:00, and 1:00)
Visitors can help one of our friendly interpreters make tasty bread in the Demonstration Kitchen.

"Name that Dad" Scavenger Hunt (ongoing)
Most people have heard of a "rooster" or a "bull" but what about a "drake", a "jack" or a "tom"? Visitors will have fun with this Scavenger Hunt as they try to guess the correct names for male farm animals.

Craft for Dad (ongoing)
Children will have fun making craft specially for their fathers.

Colouring Activity (on going)
Children will enjoy colouring a special Father's Day theme picture for dad.

  • Visitors can discover the exhibitions Tractors and One Hundred Years of Science in Agriculture.
  • Children can try our new "Eggs-citing" Inspect the Farm challenge.
  • Children's Activity Centre located on the Exhibitions level.
  • Tally-Ho Horse-Drawn Wagon Rides ($), weather permitting
  • Food services will be available on site for the one-day event, "The Hot Potato Co." ($).

The Canada Agriculture Museum connects Canadians and the world to the historical and current importance in everyday life of agricultural science and technology through engaging interpretive activities and products centred on an accessible demonstration farm.

Families (2 adults and 3 kids): $13.00

Prince of Wales Drive, south of the traffic circle, north of Baseline Road. Free parking. The Canada Agriculture Museum is located on Prince of Wales Drive on the Central Experimental Farm.
