Easter Weekend Activities at the Canada Agriculture Museum

Ottawa, Ontario — The Canada Agriculture Museum is celebrating the arrival of spring with a variety of activities throughout the Easter Weekend — Friday, April 2 to Monday, April 5. After a long, cold winter, the farm glows with the arrival of newborn animals. Visitors will have a chance to welcome new lambs, caress the silky fur of rabbits, and see fluffy, newly hatched chicks. Visitors will also enjoy the new exhibition Taking Care of Beesness, as well as the ever-popular Tractors exhibition. And when you’re not enjoying a day at the Museum, why not visit our new online exhibition Bees: A Honey of an Idea, as well as the well as the Food for Health website at foodforhealth.ca.
You won’t want to miss any of the following activities, displays and demonstrations at the Museum this Easter Weekend:
Meet the Lambs
(9:30, 10:30 and 11:30 a.m.; 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m.)
Visitors will learn about the different breeds of sheep, as well as their lifecycles. In addition, with the help of one of the Museum’s friendly Guides, visitors can see and touch gentle new lambs.
Making Bread for Easter
(10:00 a.m.; 12:30 and 2:00 p.m.)
Did you know that there is more to Easter bread than hot-cross buns? Visitors will learn about other traditional breads made to celebrate Easter, and have a chance to sample some of these delicious treats. Recipes will also be available to take home.
Meet the Rabbits
(10:00 and 11:00 a.m.; 12:00, 1:00, 2:00 and 3:00 p.m.)
Visitors will learn interesting facts about the lifecycle of this farm favourite, and will also have a chance to meet and touch the rabbits.
Easter Egg Hunt for Tots

Children six and under will enjoy hunting for colourful eggs hidden throughout the barns and exhibitions. Once they find three, they can exchange their eggs for some tasty treats!
Signs of Spring Egg Hunt
(Ongoing)
Children seven and up will be challenged to find the “Signs of Spring” on the farm in order to receive their own special treat!
Meet the Chicks
(Ongoing)
Could a chick hatch in your refrigerator? Why are some eggs white and some brown? What is a layer hen? Visitors will get the answers to these questions and more, as they welcome fluffy, newly hatched chicks.
Extraordinary Eggs!
(Ongoing)
At this station, visitors will learn interesting facts about eggs. They will also be able to compare different types of eggs, and will see how eggs are graded when our knowledgeable Guides put the egg-grader into action.
Colouring Contest
(Ongoing)
All visiting children will have a chance to showcase their artistic talent when they design and colour our Easter egg outline — they might even win a prize!

The Canada Agriculture Museum is located on the Central Experimental Farm, Prince of Wales Drive, between the traffic circle and Baseline Road. Free parking.
Admission is $7 for adults; $4 for children (ages 3–14); $6 for students and seniors; $16 for families (2 adults and 3 children); children under 3 are free.
