Appointment of Denise Amyot as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Canada Science and Technology Museum Corporation

Denise Amyot - President and CEO CSTMC The appointment of Denise Amyot as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Canada Science and Technology Museum Corporation has been greeted with enthusiasm by the Corporation's Board of Trustees and the dedicated employee team at its component museums - the Canada Agriculture Museum, the Canada Aviation Museum and the Canada Science and Technology Museum.

‘I am delighted that Ms. Amyot will be joining the organization and confident that she is the best person for this demanding role,’ said James Paul, Chair of the Board of Trustees. ‘Her impressive network within federal departments and central agencies will be an excellent asset to the Corporation as we develop partnerships to advance our mission. Her broad management experience will bring strong leadership to our work of reaching out to Canadians to showcase our exceptional collection through innovative products, programs and services.’ Mr. Paul also emphasized the appreciation of the Board of Trustees for the recent leadership demonstrated by Mr. Fernand Proulx as Interim CEO. ‘I know that we can all count on Mr. Proulx's significant contributions in his continuing role as Chief Operating Officer of this complex and dynamic organization.’

Currently Senior Vice President of the Leadership and Talent Management Sector for the Canada Public Service Agency, Mme Amyot's professional contributions to federal and territorial departments and agencies have ranged from public education to communications to policy, program and service delivery, with extensive experience in human resource management and training. Her educational background prepares her particularly well to lead the CSTMC in the achievement of its mission. She has earned a Masters in Education and Bachelor degrees in Biology, Arts and Education.

‘I am excited to take on this role, working with professionals in the museum community and with private and public sector partners, bringing together my passion for science, education and public affairs,’ said Ms Amyot. ‘In this knowledge based economy, we will ensure that our national outreach initiatives help to preserve our past, understand our present, and inspire our future. Together we will create the conditions for all Canadians to better understand the importance of science and technology in Canada's heritage, and to be inspired and equipped to innovate in the future.’

‘We will focus on building partnerships with a variety of partners, and on identifying and capitalizing on the synergies between them and our Museums. This will in turn help us to increase our national presence and achieve our other corporate objectives.’

The Canada Science and Technology Museum Corporation is responsible for preserving and protecting Canada's scientific and technological heritage and promoting and sharing knowledge about that heritage. The Corporation and its three Museums-the Canada Agriculture Museum, the Canada Aviation Museum, and the Canada Science and Technology Museum -tell the stories of Canadian ingenuity and achievement in science and technology, and demonstrate how these accomplishments have contributed to the building of our country.
