Wine Rack

ca. 1900
2010.

Canada has had a commercial winemaking industry since the 1870s. During the industry’s early days, commercially produced wine was either port or
sherry — dry Canadian table wines were not available until the middle of the twentieth century. This rack was used by the T.G. Bright Winery in Niagara Falls, Ontario to hold bottles of wine for aging. Each bottle was positioned so that the natural cork seal absorbed moisture, while also providing a barrier to molds and other airborne contaminants.
