Model Chicken Coop

ca. 1940
2010.

Model Chicken Coop

Research at Canada’s network of experimental farms often resulted in new structures and equipment to assist Canadian farmers. This model chicken coop was produced by the Poultry Division at the Central Experimental Farm (CEF) in Ottawa.

Designed to provide chickens with access to food, light, water and an enclosed outdoor run, the structure also had interior fittings that made it easier to clean. This model was used as an educational tool when farmers visited the CEF for a poultry management field day.
