World Food Day - October 16, 2011

Has your grocery bill gone up recently? Prices for staple foods like corn, rice, and wheat have changed faster and more dramatically in recent years than ever before. These rapid swings in food prices have unsettling effects that are felt around the world.

Every year on October 16, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations celebrates World Food Day. Events are held worldwide to raise awareness about hunger, malnutrition, and the importance of agricultural food production. This year, the focus of World Food Day is on rapidly changing food prices and their impact on hunger.
