Cold Weather Changes from November to February at the Canada Agriculture Museum
Free access to the animal barns As in past years, visitors to the Canada Agriculture Museum have FREE access to the animal barns from November 1 to February 28. The barns are open daily free of charge from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., except December 25, when the barns are closed. No daily demonstrations or exhibitions are presented until March 1, 2010.
Birthday Parties continue year round Children ages 3 -12 can enjoy a MOOving Experience with games, ice cream and a special tour of the barns. Children 5 to 12 year-old can get cooking with a Pizza Party and taste the rewards of all their hard work after visiting the animals. For information and to register call 613 991-3053.
School Programs School programs continue through the winter months. They extend and enrich the classroom experience in a stimulating educational environment. Teachers can connect to their curricula through our dynamic and hands-on programs, and by using our printable free educational Activity Kits at agriculture.technomuses.ca. Summer Day Camps Summer Day Camps offer children ages 4 to 14 unique and enriching experiences in our demonstration farm setting. Registration will open February 16, 2010. Space is limited. To register call 613 991-3053.
March 1, 2010 The Canada Agriculture Museum comes alive in March 2010. The exhibitions open again for another season. Museum Interpreters will bring agriculture knowledge, our exhibitions, and artefacts to life with informative and hands-on daily demonstrations.
Exhibitions New! - Taking Care of Beesness - Opens March 1, 2010
There’s a new buzz at the Canada Agriculture Museum. Discover the essential role bees play in the pollination of many Canadian food crops such as blueberries and apples, as well as to the production of honey and many other by-products, while you explore the role and the tools of the beekeeper. Check out the Museum’s live hive arriving in May and try to find the queen among all the workers and drones.
Tractors Also re-opening March 1, 2010, the exhibition Tractors allows visitors to follow the 100-year-old story of the tractor from unfamiliar oddity to commonplace tool on the Canadian farm.
Virtual Exhibition New! - Bees: A Honey of an Idea – Launching in 2010
Barnyard Break - March 1 to 7 and March 13 to 21, 2010 The Canada Agriculture Museum launches its new spring season with Barnyard Break! Visitors will be able to participate in or watch informative demonstrations and learn about many farm animals. Also, on weekends, visitors can warm up with a wintry recipe. A favourite March Break children’s activity is suggesting names for the Museum’s calves.
