Visit the Canada Agriculture Museum for a Memorable Mother’s Day
Bring your mother to the Canada Agriculture Museum on Sunday, May 9, and give her the royal treatment with special activities fit for a queen. Learn about a mother’s role on the farm, and how animal mothers produce many of the things we eat everyday, such as milk, eggs, and meat. On this special day, mothers and grandmothers enjoy free admission to the Museum all day. The arrival and installation of a live beehive—with its own queen—for the Museum’s newest exhibition, Taking Care of Beesness, is creating quite a buzz. To help celebrate your own queen bee, we’ve planned some special activities for Mother’s Day, including: The Buzz about Honeybees:Discover the essential role bees play in the pollination of many Canadian food crops, and learn what beekeepers do to keep the colony healthy. Beeswax Candle-Making:Children of all ages will love trying this traditional craft and create a gift for mom to take home.
Making Lip Balm:Beeswax can be used for much more than making candles. You’ll “bee” amazed as the guides create a special beeswax lip balm. Recipes to take home will be available. Making and Tasting Honey-Based Recipes:Lend a hand as we make delicious treats, then stay for a sample. General information:Please visit agriculture.technomuses.ca or call 613-991-3044. |
