The Canada Agriculture Museum is Launching its New Season!

Ottawa, Ontario — The Canada Agriculture Museum is proud to launch its new spring season! Throughout the month of March, the Museum is featuring Barnyard Break activities for the entire family. As of March 1st, visitors can also take in the new exhibition Taking Care of Beesness, as well as the ever-popular Tractors exhibition. In addition, net surfers can “virtually” visit our new exhibition Bees: A Honey of an Idea, as well as the Food for Health website at foodforhealth.ca.

Barnyard Break

Barnyard Break features exciting activities and demonstrations the whole family will enjoy. Visitors can join Museum staff for a children’s story and craft, along with a variety of other interesting demonstrations. As they warm up in the kitchen, visitors can lend a hand in cooking with a spring staple — maple syrup —and can try making and tasting fresh butter. In the barns, they can meet some of our animals, including sheep and lambs.

New! Taking Care of Beesness

Starting March 1st, visitors can discover the essential role bees play in the pollination of many Canadian food crops such as blueberries and apples. The exhibition also explores the production of honey and many other by-products, and examines the role and the tools of beekeepers.

New! Virtual Exhibition Bees: A Honey of an Idea

In order to showcase the vital role of the honeybee in pollinating Canada’s crops, the Canada Agriculture Museum has launched a virtual exhibition about the amazing world of bees and beekeepers. This exhibition is intended to inform Canadians of the importance of beekeeping, while also offering a fun and interactive way to learn about an intricate enterprise. This online exhibition was developed in partnership with the Virtual Museum of Canada (VMC) at virtualmuseum.ca, an initiative of the Department of Canadian Heritage, as well as in partnership with the Canadian Honey Council. Easter Weekend — April 2 to 5

The Canada Agriculture Museum celebrates the arrival of spring with a variety of activities throughout the Easter weekend. After a long, cold winter, the farm glows with the joyful birth of newborn animals. Visitors will have a chance to welcome gentle new lambs and rabbits, and see fluffy, newly hatched chicks.

DAILY DEMONSTRATIONS IN MARCH

Throughout the month of March, visitors can learn more about Canadian agriculture, and about the food and fibres that make our way of life possible.

Special Invitation to Seniors

Every Tuesday from March to October, seniors (60+) are admitted free.

As a national institution within the Canadian Heritage Portfolio, the Canada Science and Technology Museum Corporation is responsible for preserving and protecting Canada’s scientific and technological heritage, and for promoting and sharing knowledge about that heritage. The Canada Agriculture Museum is located on the Central Experimental Farm, Prince of Wales Drive, between the traffic circle and Baseline Road. Free parking. Admission is $7 for adults; $4 for children (ages 3–14); $6 for students and seniors; $16 for families (2 adults and 3 children); children under 3 are free.
